Eye Bag Removal
As we age, our skin loses its elasticity and begins to ‘bag’ and ‘sag’, a process which is most immediately noticeable around the eyes. Eyelid surgery can create an immediate rejuvenating effect. Known medically as ‘blepharoplasty’, this procedure can be performed on both upper and lower eyelids.
Upper eyelid surgery will remove sagging skin of the upper eyelid, which can give your eyes a hooded appearance. A lower blepharoplasty will remove bags from under the eyes. This combination of treatments will achieve a fresher and more alert look, which therefore creates a much more youthful impression. Fatty excess, if present will also be removed to achieve an improved appearance.
Midface lift in some patients is combine with lower eyelids blepharoplasty and other procedures to give a better outcome in the more aged lower eyelids.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does eyelid surgery take?
Upper eyelid surgery will usually be conducted under a local anaesthetic with sedation as an option, or a general anaesthetic as day surgery. The procedure takes approximately one hour.
Lower eyelid surgery will usually require an overnight stay and can take approximately two hours. In both upper and lower eyelids surgery, incisions are made in order to remove fat and excess skin and sutures are used to support your eyelids as they heal. These will be removed about one week post-procedure.
What are the risks associated with blepharoplasty?
All surgery carries with it a risk of potential complications and infection. These will be discussed in detail during your initial consultation, but it is always good to keep in mind that when choosing competent and experienced surgeons such as Mr Juma and Mr Hayek, any associated risks are greatly minimised.
How much does blepharoplasty cost?
Depending on the combination of procedures you choose, the cost can be as little as £2,700, rising to around £6,800. This will, of course, be confirmed during your initial consultation at New Image Clinic.
What happens during the initial consultation with Mr Juma and Mr Hayek?
Together, our surgeons will take a detailed medical history and conduct a physical examination to determine which procedures will produce the results you are hoping for. There will be an opportunity for you to ask questions about anything that might be worrying you, which will enable you to make a properly informed decision about whether to proceed when you have all the answers.
What is the recovery process associated with eyelid surgery?
Recovery from upper eyelids surgery will take 2-3 weeks, and 3-4 weeks in lower eyelids surgery. In the majority you are likely to notice a significant improvement within two to four weeks. Initially, you should sleep with two to three pillows to reduce swelling. A cold compress may help with this too. It is also a good idea to wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from dust and bright sunlight during the healing period. Mr Juma and Mr Hayek will assess your recovery during your follow up consultation.
